back at university | life update 03

I have now officially been back in Leicester for a month and I thought it was time to write an update on here, for you guys but also for me.

Throughout the summer I imagined how my life would be when I come back to University and boy was I wrong. Honestly, I imagine things so much that when they don't actually happen I almost get upset over it but for no reason. It's weird. I think that's why I love watching tv shows and films so much because I can easily escape reality. However, just because it isn't how I imagined doesn't mean I am not enjoying it.

My new accommodation is so amazing, I bloody love it. I have my own little studio flat, so no sharing a kitchen with anyone and having a fridge/freezer all to my self!!!! I even have a cute little 2 person sofa, which is surprisingly very comfy. I have fairy lights all across one wall, photos everywhere, a giant Avengers Endgame poster above my bed, my lil pop vinyls dotted around the room and this year I have a cute little house plant! I did manage to break the plant pot so that doesn't look as cute now but it is still alive. I am feeling very content in my room. I just need a few more photos and some pillows for my sofa (which are at home) and then expect a room tour, at some point.

University itself has been good. I am in every day which isn't brilliant but some days I am only in for 1/2 hours, however 2 days a week I am in till 6pm which isn't the best thing. I have also been blessed with my first 9am. The modules for 2nd year and very interesting so far, apart from one but you can't love em all. I am currently doing one optional module till December and then I have another optional module that starts in January for 2nd semester. I picked 'Media & Crime' for this semester and Policing for 2nd semester - originally I picked 'Forensic Investigation' but they had to cancel it due to a lack of lecturers.

Since my last update (last November) I have done a lot. I had a lovely long summer that started back at the end of May - the 23rd to be exact. I spent most of my summer at work, but when I wasn't at work I was spending as much time as I can with my friends which was lovely.

In August it was my mum's birthday and honestly, we had the best day! We took our dog, Pickle for a walk around a local nature reserve and then I treated mum to Afternoon Tea at the cutest Vintage Victorian Tea Room. We got a pot of tea and some sandwiches to start off with, and then a cake stand which had 4 MASSIVE slices of cake and 2 scones. We shared the red velvet cake and took the other 3 slices home, my brother ate one of them. We then went and got our nails done as we had wanted them done for a while and luckily they weren't very busy. We ended the day with a meal at Annie's Burger Shack in Derby - which I was very overdressed for.

Overall I had such a lovely summer and I was sad when it was over but I was ready for University. As I mentioned my timetable isn't too bad, especially as I am only in till 11am on Friday's and next semester I have them off!! I also get an 'enhancement week' this year so I am going home for the first week of November which will be lovely. I'll get to snuggle with my dog and the cats if they move, as well as spend time with my family and hopefully see my aunt!

I have quite a few exciting things that will be happening over the next year, and I am so excited. I feel like the rest of 2019 will be great, and hopefully, 2020 will be just as good. I say this like there isn't still 2 months left of the year. They will go quickly though I am sure, soon it will be Christmas and then New Year!

Anyway, that is enough from me. I hope you enjoyed this lil update. Hopefully some more posts will be coming soon as I have an exciting few weeks and some good ideas. Thank you for reading!

feeling more myself | life update 02

It is finally time for me to sit down and tell you all about how I have been doing the past couple of months, since my last life update back in June when I finished my A-Levels.

LIFE UPDATES:
  • I spent the majority of the summer working at my 'part-time' job at a kids holiday club. I love my job and I had so much fun going in every day of the six week holiday and then during term time as well. It was strange when I said goodbye to them as I know I will be going back in Easter.
  • I FINALLY moved into university. Now you're probably sat there thinking 'No sh*t Megan, we already know that' but honestly it has been one of my biggest achievements and I am so proud of my self for actually coming and not changing my mind at the very last minute.
  • I am now studying (BA) Criminology at De Montfort University in Leicester
  • I went to Leeds to visit one of my friends from school, as she is now studying at the University of Leeds. I went up Friday 22nd October after I finished lectures and ended up coming home on the Sunday evening because it was a little too much for me to get the train home alone (as this was my first train journey alone) - anxiety won basically. Apart from my anxiety making me an emotional mess I was so proud that I managed to make it to Leeds in the first place and had the loveliest time visiting my friend, visiting a new city and comparing out university accommodations!
  • I went home for a day on Wednesday 26th October and got to spend most of the day with my brother and my friends. I took a trip to Home Bargains and Tesco (exciting I know!) to stock up on diffusers from my room as the Christmas ones were in and they make my university room smell amazing - my room currently smells of 'gingerbread' and my bathroom smells of 'warm apple and cinnamon'.
  • For Halloween, my flat decided to host a party on Saturday 27th October and it was interesting to the say the least, but what do you expect for a university flat party!
  • I have been officially been at University for 6 weeks now (5 'teaching' weeks) and honestly, I am loving every second of it. It did take me a while to adjust and get used to things but that always happens when you go to a new place or start living somewhere new. I have finally got a routine down here (I think) and I am actually feeling more motivated to do my work as well because at first I was struggling to get my head around all the new 'content' and all the assessments I have due in December.
  • My room is starting to feel a lot more like home. In the first 2 weeks, I moved things around a lot and (I think) I have finally got everything the way I want it apart from my pin board as I am in the process of ordering some more photos and quotes to fill it up a little more.

I hope you enjoyed these little life updates about me going off to University and starting the next step of my life. I am so excited to share my university journey with you over the next 3 years, I am ready to see what the future brings.

Let's Catch-Up | Life Updates 01

It has been a long time... however I am so excited to be back and have planned so many great things for this long summer - 3 months long to be exact.  I took a little break during exam season, which ended last Thursday (14th), as it got very stressful but I am glad they are over and done with so I can start focusing on the next step in my life. University.

I wanted to catch you guys up on what has been happening in my list recently and in the process of going to University, as well as random things in my life and my summer bucket list!

LIFE UPDATES:
  • Back in November, I set off my UCAS application and if I am honest I did not expect to hear back from the Universities within a week let alone a day. I remember the exact moment when I received my first offer because it was in the middle of my Friday morning double geography lesson. I looked down at my phone to see the email and was like "no way that cannot be true" and my friends just looked at me and said, "you got an unconditional offer, that's amazing?". For weeks I didn't think it was true, I was very calm about the whole thing even when people congratulated me.
  • On the 20th of December, to be exact, my firm choice was confirmed and I was officially going to be studying Criminology at DeMontfort University starting on 1st October 2018!
  • In February, Mum and I took our first trip to Europe together - Amsterdam. We also started planning our next trips together, consisting of Rome, Paris, Barcelona and New York - but that will be to celebrate Mum's 50th.
  • I turned 19 in March!
  • Finally to recent weeks - I finished my A-levels, psychology and geography, and officially left sixth form forever! At first, it scared me a little because I have been in the same place for 8 years, I felt safe there. However, now I have a long break before my next adventure - University.
  • The day after my exams ended my friend, Rebecca, and I made a trip down the road to go and get my nail's done, do a little shopping and have some lunch. We found the cutest little 'tearoom' that was very reasonably priced and the food was amazing!! We decided to share our first freak-shake, which was a Nutella one.
  • Love Island started about 2 and half weeks ago, and we, of course, the entire UK were inside their house and on the sofa at 9pm at night tuning into itv2. I have been a little behind but I spent Thursday afternoon catching-up and honestly it is brilliant! I adore this show, however, I do not think it is as good as last year and lots of people have been saying that this is 'the worst year yet'. Honestly, I am just here for Jack and Dani (who I watched in survival of the fittest earlier in the year) and Alex who I want to find love ASAP. - if you do not watch it or aren't from the UK then you are honestly missing out.
  • I finished my book, Finding Aubrey (4/5 stars), in May and haven't really picked up another book since because I had been struggling to find time to read and hadn't found a book I really wanted to read. I have been creating many lists on Amazon full of books for me to order for my holiday, which is 5 weeks on Saturday! | buy it on amazon

  • Back in April I watched a tv show called American Crime story: The people vs O.J Simpson and became OBSESSED with everything and anything about it. I even watched a documentary about Robert Kardashian's influence on the case, it was so interesting to watch and brilliant because the tv show was based obviously based on a real-life event - Robert Kardashian was played by David Schwimmer...
  • My playlist for this month has been on 24/7 for me, helping me through m revision and putting me in a brilliant mood. It mainly consists of Shawn Mendes as he released his new album and I am OBSESSED with it - 10/10 recommend. There is also Alessia Cara's new song, which was worth the wait!

MY SUMMER BUCKET LIST:
  1. Read 3 books or maybe more.
  2. Pass my theory test - my driving has been put on hold since December 2017, so my passing my theory is my main focus currently
  3. To get another tattoo - hehe yes I got one last June but you will see it soon, maybe ...
  4. Try out yoga
  5. Eat a lot healthier
  6. Go to the gym at least 5 times a week
  7. Watch a lot of new tv shows - I created a list throughout the exam process, and it got very long but I am very excited to watch them all.
What are your plans for the summer?

If anyone else had exams, I hope they went well but now we can all relax and have a nice long summer before the next chapter in our life or maybe the same thing. Either way, I hope you all have a lovely summer and I will be back with a new post every Saturday from now on!

Life Update | 2016

Hey guys, so since January a lot has actually changed for me and well I thought I'd update you all!! Especially as my camera decided not to work and I was super rushed and stressed Friday night so the post I wanted to post won't be up till next Wednesday, it is all ready for you I just need to take photos which I shall do once I've been to sixth form on Monday.

I wasn't sure how to write this but like well I'm going to right them as numbers, however they won't be in order because I can't remember stuff that great and it just seems cute like this.

  1. Back in March I turned 17!!!! Which meant I could officially learn to drive and well.... I haven't started yet which is crazy I know but I got super busy and it just gave up attempting to organised it, however I am starting in September so *fingers-crossed* I will have hopefully passed by my 18th in March or Summer so I can drive to YNOT which is a music festival near me, me and my friends are planning to go to next year!
  2. I have actually been so happy. Which is bloody amazing and never felt so good, like for the past year and a bit I haven't really been myself if I'm honest and well as my best friend, my favourite teacher and one of my closest friends have said to me they have seen my grow up like a few years in the space of a few months. Just thinking about it makes me so happy and I have the bestest friends ever, that everything just makes me smile no days. Even when I'm sat crying at TV shows or movies I'm smiling to because they make me happy, which seems crazy as I'm crying at them but it makes sense... It will make sense to you if you are also emotional attached to things like that!
  3.  I DYED MY HAIR PURPLE!! I have been purple since the 1st June, well I originally did it semi-permanently on the day of my friends party which was risky af but it all worked out. Especially as it was an emotional day as I hated it at first but then loved it, as well I hated it at the beginning due my head being dyed purple/pink as well as my hair, oops. I actually re-dyed it last sunday as my roots were starting to show and well we had missed patches and I am still slightly brown in places but you can't see them which is fabby. Being purple also makes me super happy as well ever since I was little I wanted to have purple hair and well 17 years old and I finally have purple hair!!!!
  4. I have finished my first year of A-Levels (AS) which was a crazy experience and pretty stressful. I don't think we realised how big the jump between GCSE and A-Levels was. I didn't really hit me until we started being given past papers and revising for our mocks back in December because suddenly they were like you have to sort out your work experience but your mock exams are in 2 weeks! This also links into the reason for my stopping my blog for a while as well now I think if I sit out and plan things, not just blog related but life related and school then I will get into a routine with everything and manage to everything I love!
  5. My 2016 goals, In terms of the ones I told you guys I have done a few of them which makes me happy and in terms of the ones that are more personally I have managed to achieve a few of them and they are actually the most important ones. One of which was to be happy, and well mission accomplished!!!
  6. I have started looking at University courses which is super scary, I have visited quite a few with my mum and dad which were relatively close and well Reading which isn't. I also visited Nottingham and Derby with school which was great because even though they are 2 local universities they are also both very different and well I have already decided City based is for me. That shows with the two universities I love the most, Birmingham city uni and De Monfort Uni.
That is it for today's post, I hope you enjoyed this very spontaneous post. Love you lots and will see you on Wednesday!!
