Monday Motivation #1 | What i do to stay motivated

I have decided to do something new on my blog, as I am trying to change my mindset and be a lot more positive and motivating for myself. It is taking some time, I am still occasionally thinking "What is the point?",  "Why am I even bothering?" and "I will still fail". However I wanted to talk about 5 random things that I have been doing to help me, mainly the ones that have worked so far. These are things I have been doing for most of this month as it has been super busy, especially last week (hence why there was no posts sorry) when I was taking some mock exams.

1. Waking up early. Back in December I use to wake up at 7am every day however now it is January I am struggling again, mainly because of my lack of sleep and well general lack of motivation to get out of bed. However once I am out of bed I do feel great, which is quite odd.. However I love starting the day early as I feel I have so much more time to do things.

2. Finding or creating playlists. As you know I am a massive fan of the monthly playlist on spotify however I have created a new one called "in omnia paratus" which is my favourite quote from gilmore girls and just makes me smile so I thought it was a perfect fit for this playlist. The main song I always play and was my most played song of 2017, even though it didn't come out till 6th October, is S.L.U.T By bea miller!! - by sure to listen to this and have a good little dance too.

I have also found a few playlist on spotify that have also been useful, these are:

mellow morning by Kalyn Nicholson
bends and breaths by Kalyn Nicholson
girl boss by Danielle Marie
you're moving on, sis by Kenzie Piper
youre too hot for him by Kenzie Piper

When I am feeling a little overwhelmed or stressed I put on either one of Kalyn's playlists and they help calm me down an awful lot and the other's have a great range of positive 'girl boss' songs on, some of them I have included on my own playlist too.

3. Creating boards on Pintrest. I am a lover of everything pintrest and have way too many boards created, but it is something I love and helps me with certain things. For example when I wasn't 100% sure what colour to paint my room, I found so many nice grey and pink colour schemes so that what I picked - after looking at lots of different images. My study board is also my home page so when I am feeling demotivated I can look at all the images of study to help me out a little. Sometimes this works or sometimes I get distract and end up looking at images of Charles Melton and KJ Apa but that happens to everyone....?

4. Watching motivating videos. This might sound a bit ridiculous but watching video's on youtube where people are talking about the changes they have made or what helps them to stay motivated have actually helped me a lot. They kind of help you to think of things to do in your own life.

5. Showering every day. This sounds a little stupid, but coming from a gal who loves a bath as much me, a bath does helps me to relax and what not. But when a shower in the morning feels even better as it wakes you up and makes you feel clean and ready for the day!

I think that is it for my first Monday Motivation, but I hope it was helpful and I quite enjoyed writing this and hopefully these motivating thoughts will stick! I think these posts will just be random and when I come up with new ideas for them, however they will always be out on a Monday @ 4pm (GMT) so keep and eye out! xx

2017 Favourites

2017, what a wonderful year. I want to say it was better but at times I am not too sure really. Overall it was a wonderful year and I have so many great memories but I am not going to tell you about them, instead I am going to talk about my favourite products and random things from 2017!

Make-up and Skincare:
My make up favourites of last year are actually one's I didn't purchase till November, one on the Black Friday sale and one at the beginning of the month. The first is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette. I had seen so many people raving about it for months and months and I finally caved and treated myself to it, and I am so glad I did! I adore all of the colours in this palette, however I haven't managed to try them all yet, as they create such pretty make up looks if just for school or even for when I go out with friend. I love the wide range of eye looks I can create with it, and the pigmentation is wonderful! The colours blend so well together, it has to be my favourite palette I own now.

Next is actually I product I had never considered purchasing even though I had heard great things about them, it is a Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in the shade Deceased.  I picked this up in the Black Friday sales on beauty-bay (after waiting in a 30 minute queue to get onto the site in the first place), and I am so glad I did as I was in desperate need of a new liquid lipstick. The only annoying thing about when the product arrived was that when I put it on my lips it definitely was not the colour on the website, it was a lot darker, however that doesn't bother me now as the colour is so beautiful anyway! It is now my go to lipstick for going out, followed closing by Mac's matte lipstick Whirl.

Of course my skincare favourite of 2017 is the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with aloe, herbs and rosewater which I first purchased back in March when I was in London. Since then I have repurchased it one other time and I am still using that spray now, I have to say it is one of the only skincare products I am constantly using apart from my simple moisturiser.

TV Shows:
Of course there is a section for tv shows and films, which is very typical for me however I shortened this down for once!! I sat and considered what to actually write about and to make sure I don't repeat some that I mention all the time... It then lead to next week's post where I can talk about more, but I better get onto my favourites of last year.

First is a tv series I found on Netflix that I had been told was brilliant before but never got round to watching it, finally I gave in and at the perfect time I think for me. It is a show called How to Get Away with Murder, and it is all about "A group of ambitious law students and their brilliant criminal defence professor become involved in a twisted murder plot that promises to change the course of their lives."

The other tv series is something different to what I usually watch, and it is a Netflix Original called Designated Survivor. This show is all about when "A low-level Cabinet member becomes President of the United States after a catastrophic attack that kills everyone above him in the line of succession"

Films:
There was so many amazing films that came out in 2017 but if I am honest there was only a few that stood out to me, which included Girls Trip, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge, Thor: Ragnarok, Pitch Perfect 3, Jumaji: Welcome to the Jungle and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. If I start talking about them all now I will never stop but I knew it couldn't be a favourites until I mentioned all of these, even if it was briefly!

Books:
Sadly in 2017 I only managed to read one book, and I didn't manage to finish it until 14th January, but however it was a wonderful book and has made me want to read a lot more this year. The book is called The List by Siobhan Vivian. It is all about a High School which each year has a list created, naming the prettiest and ugliest in each grade. The story explains each persons perspective on what happened to them when the list came out, which confused me at times because I kept forgetting everyone's names, which grade they were in and whether they had been called ugly or pretty. I finally finished it last weekend when I couldn't sleep and it was a wonderful book and I enjoyed it thoroughly, It has now lead to my goal of reading 4/5 books this year and maybe even more - we shall see.

I am so excited to see what 2018 brings for me, and hopefully I find some new products to use and try so many new things! Thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely 2018! x

2017 REVIEW & 2018 GOALS

Happy New Year everyone,  I do hope you all had a wonderful Christmas along with of course a great New Year's Eve. I spent it out in Nottingham with friends and had a wonderful evening, even though I was on the bus home when it hit 12:00 0 1st January 2018.

This morning I decided to sit and red my post from January 1st 2017 and it does make me laugh, I set out to do so many great things last year and even though I did some wonderful things and accomplished a lot I also did terrible and didn't do some of the things I really wanted to do. Such as passing my driving theory or practical... however that is at the top of my list and will be booking my theory (again) very soon.

At the end of 2016, I created a list in my reminders called '2017 goals' and I managed to complete 10 out of the 20 which is pretty decent for me and I am actually quite proud of the one's I did complete! These consisted of some of the following: going to London for my 18th, getting a job (finally), getting a tattoo (oh yeah that happened back in June!), applying to University, getting University offers, getting an Unconditional Offer to study Criminology at De Montfort University and passing my mock exams.

My 2018 goals are similar in some ways, but also different with random things I have heard people say and just want to try doing... you will understand when you read as now I sound kind of crazy.

  • Pass my Mocks
  • Go to Amsterdam
  • Pass my theory
  • Pass my practical driving test
  • Pass my A-Levels
  • Go to more concerts
  • Get another tattoo
  • Read at least 4/5 books
  • Road-trip anywhere
  • More piercings
  • Go to University
  • Leave what isn't good for me
  • Don't chase anyone
  • Surround myself with people who make me happy

As I sit here thinking about 2018, I feel pretty confident and want to start this year off the right way. One way is spending today with my family, and surrounding myself with people who make me happy! The rest of the week however will be different as I will be starting revision for my mocks at the end of January and completing the first 2 sections of my Geography coursework and possibly starting the next if I have time. I am so ready for a new year and I can't wait to see what it brings. I have never felt like this before starting a new year but I am ready to make changes and this year is the best year to do it (I think...)

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed reading and finally of course I wish you all the best for 2018!
Love Meg x
